Here at Golden Needle, we understand wedding planning can be very stressful, and dress-shopping can seem overwhelming at first! You’ll be in great hands with the Golden Needle Bridal Consultants. We’re here to answer any questions you might have as you prepare for your appointment with us!  Here are some of our common questions about the Golden Needle Experience that might be helpful to our future brides. We can't wait to meet you! 

When should you start looking for your dream dress?

We recommend you start searching for your dress after you have set a date and have a location in mind. This will help you to envision your dress on your wedding day! We suggest booking your bridal appointment eight to twelve months in advance of your wedding date. This allows for less stress and plenty of time for alterations. Wedding gowns typically take four to six months to arrive give or take. We prefer you have six to ten weeks for alterations to ensure your gown is PERFECT! However; We know not all weddings have this much planning in advance and we can accommodate for shorter notice brides as well! 

Who should you bring with you to your appointment?

We suggest you bring your close friends and family. Bring the people who know you best! We do offer private appointments (at no additional charge) for those who have larger than 6 people coming with you to your appointment. While having a lot of people at your appointment can be fun, just remember the more opinions you have the harder your decision may be.  We can accommodate for up to twelve people comfortably during private appointments! If you would prefer a private appointment please call us directly for availability.  

What to wear to your Bridal Appointment

On the day of your bridal appointment we suggest wearing nude colored undergarments. We provide all brides with a bustier for trying dresses on. If you plan to wear any type of shape wear on your wedding day we suggest bringing it with you to try on dresses. In our experience we have found that seamless panties work best with wedding gowns when looking for your dream dress!

How much should I expect to spend on my dress?

Our bridal gowns range from $250 to $2,200. The majority of our dresses range from $1,100 to $1,600. We require half down to order your dress, the remainder is due upon the arrival of your gown. If you purchase a sample gown we require 30% down and the layaway period is six months from the date of purchase. We work with all budgets and want to make sure your day is perfect and that you love your dress! We also have clearance gowns as well that start at $99.

What sizes do you carry in store? Will you have something available in my size?

Let's begin by saying Bridal Gown sizing is NOT the same as your clothing size! Bridal Gowns tend to run two sizes smaller than a typical dress size. With that being said do not stress about the size on the label, we know everyone's body is not the same and everything fits differently! Our sample sizes range from size 8 to 28! Every dress style fits differently, A-Lines are easy to try on even it the size is not perfect! We are here to help you envision the dress even if it is not the perfect size. We have pins if it is too big and we also have some tricks up our sleeve if it is too small! Don't worry you are in good hands! 

What will my experience be like?

During your Golden Needle Experience you will be paired up with one of our AH-MAZING Bridal Consultants. Your consultant will chat with you before your appointment starts to get an idea for what you are looking for in your dream dress. During this time you can show her pictures of dresses you like and of things you don't like too! If you have no idea what you're looking for that is A-OK too! Our consultants have been trained to find our Brides the perfect dress for their style, personality, and body shape! Your consultant is here to find you the dress of your dreams and make your experience as fun and stress free as possible! When is the best time to schedule?

We accept bridal appointments for everyday of the week! Of course the weekends are the busiest time. If you plan to bring a large party, we suggest coming in on a weekday, or scheduling a private appointment which takes place on Sunday's! We are open from 10am-6pm during the week and 10am-5pm on Saturday, Sundays we are open by appointment only. During our busy season we are open on Sunday's from 1pm-5pm. You can always call us for Sunday availability! We also offer after hours appointments! 

Do you have events and trunk shows?

We host many events throughout the year. At all of our events, we host trunk shows as well. We always keep our social media updated with any events we are involved with and our trunk show schedule. Any brides who attend trunk shows or events receive a special gift certificate! 

How long do alterations typically take?

We recommend you allow for six to twelve weeks for bridal alterations. We do accept outside bridal alterations as well. All bridal alterations do require an appointment to ensure someone is available to be with the bride the entire appointment! Bridesmaids alterations take around two to four weeks depending on how busy our seamstresses are. 

How long should I plan for my appointment to be?

All appointment times vary based on the needs of the bride. Our Bridal appointments we allow one and a half hours for. However; we know not all brides can make their decision in this amount of time! If you need longer, that is more than okay, We will take as much time as you need to make a decision. 

How long do Bridesmaid dresses take to come in?

Every company varies on the turn around time for bridesmaid dresses. The average time is 3-6 months. Certain dresses do take longer. If you have a question about a specific company or dress, you can always call and we can give you a current ship date! Rushes are available as well.  

Can I bring champagne to my appointment?

We do allow champagne for appointments! All we ask is to be kind and courteous to the other shoppers in the store! No food or drinks are allowed into any dressing rooms. If you have any questions or, need anything special for your appointment please give us a call!
